Happy Holidays!

Sail Orcas would like to take a moment to recap the news from this year and let you know about the year to come.

We have had a very busy and successful 2018 sailing season!

The Orcas High School Sailing Team were district champions and represented NWISA at both the Mallory and Baker National Championships in Houston and San Diego. The OIYC summer junior lesson program was record breaking with 160 students participating in 237 classes over the course of the nine week program. The middle school learn to sail program ran at capacity introducing 34 middle school students to sailing.

Sail Orcas is excited to announce that in addition to continuing these programs next year, our mission is to replace our aging floats at the base of the OIYC pier. This has been a multi-year undertaking that began design and permitting in 2015. The new, fully permitted floats will feature a nonskid, environmentally friendly grating that will protect our local eel grass and provide a safe, clean platform for our students and programs for years to come. The new floats are a major undertaking for us, and this season we are asking for your financial help. Please consider joining us in making a contribution to the floats.

Your donation is tax deductible; check should be made payable to Sail Orcas and mailed to PO Box 1226, Eastsound WA, 98245. Alternatively you could use the online donation form and your credit card: Fund the Floats

Orcas Island Community Foundation has also set up a “Sail Orcas Teaching Floats Fund” for us that you can find on OICF’s website for web-based donations.
